Outreach

The Carver Center

Upcoming Dates

Volunteers visit the Carver Center in Port Chester, New York regularly, and assist Carver’s clients in shopping for healthy foods. We help our neighbors deal with the issue of food insecurity.

Oasis Shelter

UPCOMING DATES

The Oasis Shelter is a haven for men in New Rochelle looking for a safe, warm place to spend the night. Once each month, our volunteers prepare and deliver a hot meal to be served to men and women at the Oasis Shelter.

Volunteers are needed to prepare a simple, yet nutritious, pasta meal that feeds approximately 60 grateful friends at the Oasis Shelter. A list of all the things that are necessary for the meal preparation will be provided. If you buy the ingredients and supplies, Philoptochos will reimburse you. Otherwise, we can make all necessary purchases and bring them to you. You may volunteer to prepare the meal at your home or in the Church kitchen. You may volunteer to deliver the meal or we can do that for you. You may even team up with a friend. There are many ways to volunteer!

Grace's Kitchen

Upcoming Dates

Grace’s Kitchen first opened in th early 1970’s, when parishioners of Grace Episcopal Church began providing soup and sandwiches to their hungry neighbors in the heart of White Plains. Today the mission of Grace’s Kitchen remains the same. Sandwiches and canned goods are available for take home each day, and on Fridays, individuals are welcome to take enough food to last the weekend.

Dear Holy Trinity Family,

As we approach the joyful celebration of Holy Pascha, we offer our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your dedication and service. In this sacred season, your generosity reflects the love and humility taught by Jesus Christ, turning faith into action in a truly meaningful way. Through your efforts, you bring light, comfort, and hope to others, embodying the spirit of the Resurrection even before we proclaim it.

Our Philoptochos continues to remain busy during this holy season. The Presanctified Divine Liturgy dedicated to our chapter took place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. After the service, a light Lenten supper was enjoyed by our members and fellow parishioners, followed by an inspirational talk. Thank you, Father Nick, for teaching us some differences of the Orthodox calendar. It was truly an insightful discussion.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, our chapter hosted the Archdiocesan District Philoptochos Lenten Retreat here at Holy Trinity Church. There were 100 attendees that traveled throughout the diocese to connect with their fellow Philoptochos sisters. It was an opportunity for all of us to step away from our busy lives and engage with one another, learning and celebrating our shared goals. Dr. Evelyn Bilias Lolis was our guest Speaker, who discussed “Sustaining the Woman who Serves”, a reminder that as women who have many roles, we need to be attuned to our own wellness and resilience. After the presentation and discussion, we all enjoyed a delicious Lenten meal. That afternoon, we raised over $2,200 in grocery and Visa gift cards towards the Archdiocesan District Philoptochos Social Services Fund to assist individuals and/or families in need!

Springtime equals Easter Market! Liz Zoulis and Andrea Nicholas are working diligently to make this event a success. Our members gather to bake, cook, prepare, and pack Lenten and Paschal foods and homemade Greek pastries. Proceeds from this important fundraiser directly support our Outreach ministries and many other philanthropic endeavors. Please support us by volunteering your time, purchasing foods and/or making a monetary donation.

Easter Market pick up dates are as follows: Friday, April 3rd from 5pm -7pm, Saturday of Lazarus , April 4th from 11am – 1pm, or Palm Sunday, April 5th from Noon- 1:30pm.

Shortly after Easter, our Ladies Philoptochos Society, along with the Holy Trinity Library will host a Book-Signing Event with Dr. Kathy Stavros, author of HEARTS Unlocked, on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 at 7pm in the Holy Trinity Social Hall. Everyone is invited so please Save the Date and join us for a wonderful evening as Dr. Stavros brings her expertise to life, sharing essential practices for building meaningful connections and nurturing healthy relationships.

Our Membership Drive is ongoing so kindly consider joining Philoptochos or renewing your membership for 2026. We currently have 177 members as of mid-March! This speaks volumes and I thank you for your trust in our philanthropic organization. We strive on our transparency and will continue our good works with kindness and humility.

There are many ways to become involved in our chapter, including volunteering for one or more of our Outreach Ministries. Once a month, volunteers at Carver Center assist food- insecure members of the Port Chester community select healthy groceries. Volunteers provide a hearty chili meal for HOPE Community Services of New Rochelle (Cooking for HOPE) six times a year. We sponsor the weekly Community Food Drive, throughout the year. Once a month, volunteers make sandwiches that are delivered to Grace Episcopal Church in White Plains (Grace’s Kitchen). Other volunteers prepare and deliver a pasta and salad meal once a month for the OASIS Shelter in New Rochelle. Through our Soup Run in NYC, a home cooked meal, toiletry kits, clothes and sundry items are provided to our homeless brothers and sisters. One Saturday a month, members of our Prison Ministry visit a correctional facility in Taconic to conduct “Saturday Morning Reflections”. Members of our chapter also visit our dear elderly at St. Michael’s Home in Yonkers, three to four times a year, dancing, singing, and sharing stories with the residents, sometimes with the children of our Parish. We also have a Knitting for Charity Club and a Book Club for those members who are interested in those activities.

Visit our Church’s website at www.holytrinitynr.org or stop by our Philoptochos bulletinboard in the foyer for contact information and all forthcoming events. We are Connected! Please follow us on Instagram or Facebook.

Thank you again for your continued support to our Philoptochos. May God Bless you abundantly, strengthen you in work, and fill your hearts with the peace and joy of this holy season. Wishing you and your families a blessed Pascha. Kalli Anastasi!

With Love and much appreciation,

Angie Lambros, Philoptochos President

Community Food Drive

“for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink”

Each week, while doing your food shopping, please consider buying two extra items for those in need. Each item represents a meal for someone who would otherwise go hungry.

For your convenience a drop off bin is located outside the Church office.

Staples such as rice, canned tuna, peanut butter, breakfast cereal, canned vegetables, and pasta are always in great need. Each week, these food items are brought to the HOPE Food Pantry of New Rochelle.

Your contributions are an enormous help to needy families who are often faced with the continued threat of homelessness, and the difficult decision of paying rent or buying food.

Thank you for your kind support.
