Rev. Fr. Demetrios Balidis

Biography

Fr. Demetri joined our parish as Assistant Priest in April 2022. Much like our own Fr. Nick, Fr. Demetrios also began his parish ministry in Astoria. There, he served as Assistant Priest to the community of St. Demetrios Cathedral and Sts. Catherine & George Church. Father Demetri served the Astoria community for almost two years before joining our Holy Trinity Family.

Fr. Demetri is a proud graduate of both Hellenic College (2017) and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (2020) in Brookline, Massachusetts. In his senior year at Holy Cross, Father was ordained a Deacon by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America on March 15, 2019, at The Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour in Rye, NY. While finishing his studies in Boston, he served as an on-campus Deacon for the Holy Cross Chapel and also served the parish of St. Nectarios in Roslindale, MA, on Sundays.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros ordained Fr. Demetrios to the Holy Priesthood on October 26, 2020, at Saint Demetrios Cathedral in Astoria, NY.

The Parish of Holy Trinity is not unfamiliar to Father. He attended many events here during his GOYA years with the Church of Our Saviour in Rye. Father even participated in the first mommy & me program here at the parish, held in the late 90s!

Fr. Demetri was born and raised in Scarsdale, NY, and attended Iona Prep, just down the road from HT. Father sees it as a blessing to return home and is passionate about Youth Ministry, Liturgical life, and offering whatever he can to God and His Church. In his spare time, Father loves to travel, try new restaurants, visit Dunkin' Donuts, and spend time with his two cats, Munchkin and Dunkin.
